Lines were cast off at 14:30 after waiting for the ebb tide and for the wind to ease. Weeki Wachee left the canal lock into the Elbe at 16:20 and sailed to windward with the tide.

With the wind gusting to Force 6, good speed over ground was made in very choppy water. Weeki Wachee entered the calm of the Cuxhaven yacht harbour before 20:00.
