After casting off at 08:30, the lock at the northern end of the Nord-Ostsee Kanal was quickly entered.

Cruising all day in warm sunshine, Brunsbüttel was reached at 18:20. Weeki Wachee was tied up between boats crewed by friendly Swedes and Belgians, with the aid of an aft mooring-buoy.

The commercial shipping entering and leaving the canal could be observed at first-hand.
