After breakfast with fresh baguettes and croissants, a diver was hired to investigate the cause of the vibration. He quickly came up with a bundle of fibrous vegetation which had entangled the propeller.

Thereafter the crew set off to explore the historical fortified town of Boulogne, founded on the site of a garrison built by Claudius. The roman fleet may have assembled here before the invasion of Brittania.

The wind got up before sunset and by the morning of 10 July was at force 6 to 7. A day in harbour was used to have the batten pockets in the mainsail repaired.
